Upcoming events
By Kim Moore
I’m just popping on here to put up a few upcoming events. I’ve got a fairly busy September in terms of events. The first is Wednesday 10th September, when I’ll be hosting a reading with guest poet David Morley, as part of the Wordsworth Grasmere reading series. David is a fantastic poet and will be reading from his brand new collection Passion, recently published by Carcanet. All the open mic spots have now gone, but you can find more information about the event here, and book an audience ticket.
For paid subscribers, you can join me on September 14th at 7.30pm for an online reading from my forthcoming collection The House of Broken Things. It’s not coming out until 7th May 2026, so this really is a sneak preview. I’ve spent all day today working through edits from my publisher, so I’ll be talking a little bit about that process as well, which should be done and dusted by September 14th. By then the book will be winging its way to the copy editor. If you’d like to subscribe, you can do so for £4 for this month, or £45 for the year, and then just let me know on this post that you would like to come and I’ll send you the link. You can also email me directly as well if that’s easier.
If any of you are near Bradford, I’m one of the poets appearing at the BBC’s Contains Strong Language festival from the 18th to the 24th September. I’m really excited about this festival. You can find all the details about the line up and the programme here. Do come and say hello if you see me floating about!
Amongst all that, I’ll be preparing for the start of the new term at Manchester Metropolitan University and attending a week of induction events for BA and MA students and running a workshop for Literature Wales for their “Representing Wales” programme.
What is Clare doing, I hear you cry? I’m not entirely sure, and trying to track them down would be like herding cats, BUT I do know they are running this workshop called “Getting into the Bog” on September 24th online, which you should definitely go to, if you would like to get into the bog of your imagination, rather than an actual, real, boggy bog. You can book tickets here.
Interjection from Clare: thank you Kim!!!
I’lll be running the workshop on 24th, as above. It’s a relatively quiet month for me, thank goodness - but it will see the Little Toller publication of “Book of Bogs: Stories of a Yorkshire Moor and Other Peatlands” which I have co-edited by with Anna Chilvers. On Monday 29th, Anna Chilvers and I will be flying to Derry to promote the book and lead a workshop at the IUCN International Peatland Conference - it’s all incredibly exciting, and there will certainly be more details to follow!
And Friday 26th September I’ll be leading a Q&A session at the Todmorden book launch of “Home is a Place that Visits Me” (Arachne) written and illustrated by the ridiculously talented Hannah Hunter. Now back to Kim!
I hope to see you at some or all of the events. I would also love to know how you all are going to fill your September. What events are you planning to go to? Workshops? Readings? Or are you planning something even more exciting?

Looks like you're pretty busy! I'm currently away on a week's walking holiday but looking forward to CSL events in Bradford, where I live, including one at St George's Hall on Sept 20th which I think you're taking part in. I'm very excited though about the launch of my debut poetry collection - "Bee Lines" the following day, Sept 21st 2pm, by Yaffle, at the City Library in Bradford. All welcome. No booking required.
